形容詞について - 物語の設定を作成する

One of the easiest ways to improve writing and create captivating writing pieces is to include adjectives. In a world where we get so used to hearing the same words, it's time to expand our vocabulary and be able to describe people, feelings, places, and things with some 'wow' words!

 In this 8-week self-paced class, we will be focusing on places. One of the easiest ways to improve your story-writing is by describing the setting. Where does the story take place?  What is the mood? What is the weather like? What sounds do you hear? An exceptional writer makes the reader feel like they are in the very place where the story is happening. Instead of saying 'the woods felt exciting', why not say 'Deep in the dark, mysterious and magical woods...'  It is all about the words we choose and in this class we will look at a variety of different scenes, describe them in detail, and practice using these new and ambitious adjectives in both our speaking and our writing.  Each lesson, we will focus on two new settings and complete a few activities based on our weekly settings.
 These lessons can be completed anytime during the week. Learners will be encouraged to complete the lesson activities within one or two weeks.
The first thing we will do each lesson is look at two different settings.  We will draw a picture of these and will label it with as many adjectives as we can think of (without looking in a thesaurus or online). Next, learners will watch a recorded lesson discussing the scene and it will focus on powerful adjectives while explaining what these words mean. Students will then be encouraged to complete a few guided sentences based on the words learned in the lesson.  There will be two sentences that will be compulsory for students to complete. Guidance will be given and students will be able to use my model as an example. Another activity based on the lesson will be a challenge to use 3-5 of these new adjectives inside a new written sentence. This helps students not only revise the words but also take ownership of it in their own work. Once again, students will be able to do this in their own time. Finally, students will be given a quiz at the end of each topic.  All resources will be available for students to print and keep to help and inspire future writing. Individual feedback, with a personalized video recording, will be provided for everything that is submitted.
