In this class, students will learn about Ella Baker, also known as "the mother of the civil rights movement." Although she is not well known, like other civil rights activists, Ella Baker played a very important role in the civil rights movement. She had a great and powerful influence on many of the important civil rights activists. Ella Baker helped give a voice to many young black activists in many ways. Students will learn about the life  of the amazing Ella Baker. I will discuss how she helped as a leader in the civil rights movement. Students will understand how her wonderful methods of leadership and mentorship encouraged many people to take a stand against inequality, even if it meant risking their lives. Like in my other classes, we will have discussions about racism and inequality. We will discuss how racism and inequality affected Ella Baker's life as a leader and  an African American woman. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts. This class has the potential to exceed 30 minutes, as I love to give every student the opportunity to speak in class, if they choose to do so.
