In this unique Science class we are connecting our learning by investigating a new famous African American pioneer each day and connecting the past to the present with a revenant LAB or HANDS ON activity. Students will explore design challenges just as Elijah McCoy did, make tools to monitor the weather like June Bacon-Bercey did, understand the aerodynamics of flight like Bessie Coleman did, and investigate life-saving DNA as witnessed in the story of Henrietta Lacks. These scientists, engineers, and inventors find the solutions to the world's problems. In this class learners will learn about the work that these Black scientists and inventors have accomplished that make our lives better.
