Students will attend class three times during a one week period, where we will discuss and learn the basics of being a successful adult. We will have discussions, lectures, activities, and assignments to help the students paint a clear picture of how they view their future. The first two classes will have students completing an "Adulting Plan" which they will share with the class during the last session. Class #1 - We will discuss the all-important topic of college, community college, and vocational schools. Students will think about what institutions are best for them, know when/how they need to apply, and what to expect in college-level classes. Students will think about how they will pay for their education, what their options are, and what those options mean for the long term. Class #2 - Budgeting time and money is an important part of adulting. Students will work on creating a monetary budget for themselves on a per-month basis. Students will work on time management skills, and how to budget their time for laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning, doctor appointments, and other life necessities. Class #3 - Students will present their "Adulting Plan" to the class. Students will be encouraged to ask questions, make suggestions, and to add to their own Adulting Plan based on what other students present. Students will be shown how to do their own laundry, how to fold clothes, how to check the oil in their car, how to use a crockpot, and basics of cleaning.

教師の専門知識と資格
Hello, I'm James. I love learning, and more than that, I love inspiring others to love learning! I spend a short time at the beginning of each class to get to know each learner so that I can make each class as individual as the learners who attend. I value integrity and conduct my classes with that concept as my foundation. I have a laid back personality, and strive to provide a stress-free and judgment-free space for every learner. My classes are constructed around the concepts of higher order thinking skills, creative problem solving, and critical thinking.
You will notice that I teach classes in a variety of subjects. Just like young learners need variety, I too enjoy variety and appreciate having different experiences and types of learners to enrich my own life. This enrichment and excitement is something that I can express back to them. I only teach subjects in which I have both experience and education.
Regarding education and experience - I have a master's of education in teaching and learning, a graduate certificate in gifted education, a bachelor's degree in political science with a concentration in international relations and a minor in history, I'm a registered behavior technician and a disabled veteran. I've also spent time formally studying Philosophy and Psychology. I've worked as a substitute teacher, special education teacher, mentor, tutor, and behaviorist. I have experience coaching high school basketball, and leading track and field events for K-12 students.
