Adding and Subtracting Fractions is a lesson I have taught both in a public school with a class of 20-30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding this lesson. I understand how students respond to it and it allows me to adjust my teaching style to individual needs.
