Whether your child is just beginning or needs extra practice with facts and strategies, this class offers consistent, supportive, and enjoyable learning each week!

🧠 Class Format:

⌛ 5 minutes – Warm-Up:
Students complete a quick “minds-on” math prompt (e.g., number bonds, missing numbers, fact families) to get thinking and activate prior knowledge.

⌛ 20 minutes – Active Learning:
The teacher introduces the focus skill of the day (e.g., doubles, making 10, subtracting across zero), models examples, and guides learners through group and independent practice.

⌛ 15 minutes – Game Time!
Students jump into a live Blooket game to practice the week’s concept in a fun, fast-paced format. Game modes like Gold Quest and Fishing Frenzy keep learners engaged and motivated.

⌛ 5 minutes – Wrap-Up & Share:
We revisit key learning, celebrate game results, and preview the next topic!


Sample Schedule:

Week 1 – Making 10 & Number Bonds
Students explore combinations that make 10 and develop fluency using number bonds.

Week 2 – Doubles & Near Doubles
We practice doubling facts and learn how to use them to solve near double problems (e.g., 6+7).

Week 3 – Subtracting from 10 & 20
Students use visual models and number lines to subtract from landmark numbers.

Week 4 – Adding 3 Numbers & Mental Math
Learners use strategies like grouping, compensation, and friendly numbers to add 3 numbers efficiently.

Week 5 – Subtraction with Regrouping
We explore subtracting 2-digit numbers with regrouping using base-ten blocks and vertical algorithms.

Week 6 – Missing Addends & Fact Families
Students solve for unknown parts in equations and explore how addition and subtraction are connected.

Week 7 – Adding & Subtracting Multiples of 10
Using number patterns and place value understanding to mentally add/subtract tens from two-digit numbers.

Week 8 – Word Problems: Part-Part-Whole & Change Situations
Students learn to identify problem types and choose appropriate strategies for solving.

Week 9 – Estimation & Rounding (to the nearest 10)
We introduce estimation as a tool for checking work and making reasonable guesses.

Week 10 – Adding & Subtracting 2-Digit Numbers (no regrouping)
Students build fluency using vertical addition and subtraction without regrouping.

Week 11 – Adding & Subtracting 2-Digit Numbers (with regrouping)
Learners continue to build confidence with multi-step problems involving regrouping in both operations.

Week 12 – Addition & Subtraction Challenge Week!
Students apply everything they’ve learned through team challenges, games, and mixed review questions in Blooket!
