週1時間. Parents or caregivers might want to help their students note down what choices they want for their different parts of speech each day, in case students want to change what they thought up in class, just so they can keep track. That should only take about 5 minutes or less each day. On Thursday, after our fourth class, however, they may need help typing up their finished song with the various nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs they chose, and then illustrate it at home so they will have their finished song ready for class on Friday.

In all of my five-day “Ad-Lib Parts of Speech Camps,” your child will learn what nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are, as we use well-known nursery rhymes to learn about different parts of speech. We will read over them; sing; learn about the particular part of speech for the day; find them in the song that we’re using that week, and then switch those nouns, verbs, adjectives, and/or any adverbs in a “Mad-Lib” kind of way so they can create their own (probably silly) song by the end of the week.

On the first day, they will learn about nouns; find them in the song, and then replace them with their own choices of nouns.

On the second day, they will learn about action verbs; find them in the song; and then replace them with their own choices of verbs so that their new noun choices will also have new verbs for them, as well.

On the third day, they will learn about adjectives; find them in the song, and then replace them with their own choices of adjectives so that their new nouns will be described with their new adjectives.

On the fourth day, they will learn about adverbs, which can be harder so this class will be more of an introduction to some of many adverbs…and what they describe. Then, they will look for and replace any adverbs they find in the song or add some if they don’t have any.

All week long, I will be assessing for understanding of what nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are, as they go over the nursery rhyme, finding the different parts of speech and substituting their own. Then, after learning what all four of those parts of speech are, and having made the changes to their new version of the song, they will be able to type up their new song at home…..or have help from an adult or sibling…print out their new song; and illustrate it at home, so they can share it with the class on our last day.

On the last day, students will bring their completed and illustrated songs to share with the class. If they’re shy about sharing, I can always read or sing it for them, and they could just show the words and illustrations, instead. If any time remains after sharing, we will be playing a related game like “Silly Sentences” or “Name That Part.”

Feel free to sign up for the nursery rhyme that interests your child the most, or for all of the camps! Your child will not only get a great review of the different parts of speech, but they will also get more practice finding them in different songs. Plus, they get to create a new song for each one of the camps they attend….and have a cute, illustrated songbook of their creations, by the end of each camp. I hope to see your child in class!

Students will learn what nouns, action verbs, adjectives, and adverbs are. They will get practice not only finding those parts of speech in the different nursery rhymes but then will also choose their own to replace the ones in the different nursery rhymes, in each camp, which will reinforce their understanding of each part of speech. Additional words they may not know, like "fleece" will also be taught, as will some clapping of syllables to give them a basic understanding of syllables before they learn about them in school.

受講に必要なもの
It would be helpful if they knew the nursery rhyme before class, and had typing help for the final project. Other than that, they will want to use crayons, colored pencils, paints, or markers....their choice....and paper, to illustrate their new song for our final day when they share their creation.
