Students will learn in a variety of manners. The teacher will utilize visuals such as a read-aloud and various props and manipulatives. Students will interact with the teacher and each other by participating in open discussion and answering Check for Understanding (CUD) questions that the teacher asks throughout the read-aloud and activities. Class time will be structured as follows: An introduction from the teacher and cookie monster, a brief "get-to-know-you" activity, a read-aloud with Cookie Monster ("The ABCs of Cookies"), recitation/performance of the ABCs, counting cookies with Cookie Monster, and a simple "Cookie Craft" at the end to reinforce the concepts taught. The topics covered will be: review of the ABCs, rote counting from 1-10, one-to-one correspondence, following directions, and fine motor skills.
