このクラスで学べること

Are you family that is always on the go? Does your family like to travel? Are you part of the homeschool or unschooling community? Are you passionate about nature and all of the great benefits of spending time outdoors?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, and even if you didn't, it's my guess that you're going to love this class. Here's the gist - we meet weekly to craft, build and create a new project. Students are given a short list of materials to find during our time apart. I call this the scavenger hunt. Be sure to check the classroom page to gain access to the new list each week!!!

-----

Here's an example -
This week we will be making: "Giant Nature Found Object Wall Weavings"

Your mission is to find the following items and bring them to class. If you can't find all of the items, don't worry! These found object items are suggestions and simply make the project more exciting.

Clue #1: Something small, flat and shiny
Clue #2: Something that a bird may use to build a nest
Clue #3: A small amount of this natural element that covers the Earth (no more than a 1/4 -1/2 cup)
Clue #4: Something man-made that can be composted (nothing too big, remember, it's only one part of our project)
Clue #5: Something thin that you can use for tying

-----

Students will learn how to use all of these found items when they get to class. Of course, we'll want to hear from everyone as they share what they found on their scavenger hunt. We love discussion in this social class but if you're on the shy side, no pressure!

In addition to the items on the scavenger hunt list, students will also need to bring various other materials to class. You can find a list of those materials on the classroom page and at the bottom of the treasure hunt list.

In this fun class, students learn how to find new uses for various types of found objects, become more aware of their surroundings as they search for treasures, engage in problem solving activities as they interpret clues, express their creativity as they craft and build projects, build social skills as they share their found objects and so much more!

It is strongly advised that students complete the weekly treasure hunt before coming to class. They will be able to create most projects without the found objects but it will be much more enjoyable if they can find the short list of materials. Students may be constructing large projects and will need the appropriate space for working. Some students will need supervision when working with some tools like scissors. If younger siblings attend the class with older siblings they will likely need assistance with parts of the project.
受講に必要なもの
Each week students will find a treausre hunt list on the classrooom page. At the bottom of that list is a short list of other supplies needed, such as - glue, tape, cardboard, paint, markers, etc.

A complete list of supplies and materials will be posted in the classroom page as well.
