This first of four year-long high school class is designed for learners that are ready to thrive in a self-directed, dual-pathway academic environment. Students will stay connected through live group classes in English, math, science, and social studies while independently pursuing a personalized capstone project in a field of their choice—such as business, publishing, science, technology, ethical hacking, audio engineering, music, the arts, or whatever path meets your learners aptitude, interests, and personality, in which they will discover as well-while in this program.

Class Experience

In this advanced, interactive program, learners will:
	•	Attend live core academic classes to build foundational knowledge through collaborative learning, debates, simulations, group projects, and Socratic discussions.
	•	Choose and work on a year-long Capstone Project, developing research, presentation, and critical thinking skills as they pursue a real-world goal aligned with their passions.
	•	Have the option to teach or mentor others, lead group discussions, and present mini-lessons—building leadership, communication, and autonomy.
	•	Participate in weekly town halls, goal-setting check-ins, and student-led conferences to reflect on progress, build accountability, and strengthen peer support.
	•	Use a blend of slides, video clips, hands-on projects, and real-time collaboration tools to stay engaged and inspired.

This class is ideal for self-motivated, curious learners who enjoy structure and freedom in equal measure. Students are encouraged to explore their interests deeply while still mastering key high school subjects in a supportive and consistent academic community.

My teaching style is warm, highly interactive, and student-centered. I empower learners to think independently, take ownership of their learning, and collaborate meaningfully with peers. There will be a mix of direct instruction, open discussion, games, peer reviews, and creative assignments.

By the end of the course, students will have:
	•	Completed their core academic courses for the year
	•	Created and presented a high-quality Capstone Project that will be a complete project that stands on its own, but could also stand as an option to build upon, in the following tenth grade year, in order to add depth and an additional layer to
	•	Built a digital portfolio showcasing their work, leadership, and growth

This class builds toward graduation requirements and supports students preparing for college, careers, or entrepreneurship.

With over two decades of teaching experience, education isn't just a job for me—it's my calling, my joy, and my passion. I've spent my career dedicated to nurturing young minds and instilling a lifelong love for learning in each and every student who enters both my classroom, and my heart. 

Our curriculum is more than just lessons and textbooks—it's a carefully crafted journey designed to ignite curiosity, spark creativity, and foster personal growth. From the excitement of mathematics to the wonder of science, every subject is an opportunity for exploration and discovery tailored to the unique needs of each learner.

Throughout the year, we'll embark on an exhilarating adventure of interactive lessons, collaborative projects, and hands-on activities. But more than that, we'll create a warm, inclusive environment where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to shine.

As an educator, my philosophy is simple: I lead by example. My goal is not just to teach, but to inspire, to uplift, and to empower each student to reach their full potential. Every child that enters my classroom, enters my life, and my heart. I have always and always will love, encourage, teach, respect, care for, and treat every one of my students with the same vehemence as my own child.

But let's not forget the most important part—fun! Learning should be an adventure, a journey filled with laughter, excitement, and joy. That's why I'm committed to making every class an engaging, enjoyable experience for all.

Throughout the course, students will not only learn from me but also from each other, through lively discussions, group projects, and collaborative activities. Together, we'll build a community of learners where everyone feels heard, valued, and supported.

All learners must follow the Outschool learner verification safety process. To be let into the room, your learner must have the name on their zoom account match the name on the student roster verbatim. The student must also make sure to have their camera on before entering the classroom. If their camera is not on upon being let into the classroom, they will be removed immediately, but they will be let back in once their cameras are on and their names match. The child must also have enough light on to be identified by the teacher. After they have been identified, they MUST keep their cameras on for the entirety of the classroom time.

How will the class be taught?
The class will employ a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles:

Teaching Style
Our teaching style emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning. Students will engage in interactive activities and real-world applications, fostering a deep understanding and enthusiasm for learning. Each and every lesson is designed to be fun, challenging, and supportive of diverse learning styles. With frequent use of breakout rooms in Zoom, students will benefit from collaborative learning and individual attention.

Our teaching style is inclusive and adaptive, focusing on personalized instruction and flexible pacing. This ensures that all learners, whether they have ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, ADD, or no special learning needs, receive the support they need to succeed.

Our teaching style emphasizes experiential learning and hands-on activities. Each lesson is designed to be interactive, fun, and practical, providing students with real-world experience. Frequent use of breakout rooms and interactive apps ensures a collaborative and engaging learning environment.

The ELA curriculum leverages a variety of interactive learning apps, such as Edpuzzle, Explain Everything, Loom, and Lumio, to create engaging and hands-on assignments. Students will have opportunities to talk and record themselves, making presentations that enhance their learning experience while allowing teachers to track progress and provide targeted feedback. By incorporating these tools, the curriculum ensures a fun, interactive, and comprehensive ELA education.
