Enrolling now for Fall 2024! Classes begin September 3, 2024. Coupon code: OBRIEVOGUK10 Welcome Everybody ! Welcome to Mr. O’Brien’s classroom ! With over 20 years of teaching and classroom experience, my goal is to create a safe and supportive learning environment to bring out the best in your student ! Small Group Class This small group class (6 learners max) is based on years of experience in classes of different sizes and concluding that 6 students in the optimal group size for effective learning. This gives students both a chance to participate and collaborate with peers, and to make sure there presence is seen and their voice is heard. Teaching Philopsophy This is more than a Math class. In this group we are also building life-skills, including building confidence and belief in our own abilities to achieve and succeed, both in the classroom and in life ! Class Format The format of the class is 1 X 30-minute sessions per week over the course of 35 weeks. Also, from years of experience and working with students, 30-minutes is the right amount of time to gain and practice a new skill without losing focus, which tends to happen in longer classes, especially when students are taking multiple classes a day in addition to daily life activities. We also encourage students and parents to practice Math outside of the classroom, and to come prepared and ready to ask questions during class time to fill in the gaps ! Collaborative Effort This class is a collaborative effort between students, parents, peers, and teacher, and your feedback is encouraged in order to co-create the most effective program and learning environment. At any point, please send me a message and we can adjustments to the curriculum that will ensure your students are on track to achieve their goals ! Syllabus This study hall will support and complement your regular Math class ! The syllabus is a suggested guide, however, students are welcome to bring any questions they have to the sessions ! 2024-2025 School Year Calendar The class schedule will be based on the School Year calendar and will take into considering public holidays and vacations.
