This self-paced course is designed to teach students 6th grade math and prepare them for 7th grade math. The course does not meet live. The curriculum covers a range of topics, including ratios, arithmetic with rational numbers, rates, percentages, negative numbers, variables and expressions, equations and inequalities, plane figures, coordinate plane, 3D figures, and data and statistics. Video lessons are created by me and will be posted on the classroom board. Post may also include resources such as worksheets and guides to aid in learning for that weeks lesson. Students will receive homework for each lesson which will consist of Khan Academy and/or worksheets. Homework worksheets can be submitted by sending an image, scan, or PDF. Unit tests and quizzes are issued on Khan Academy, and a final course review will be given on paper as a PDF to test student retention of information and readiness for 7th grade math. Communication with students is done solely through the Outschool platform, and parents are encouraged to ensure their child is completing assignments and watching video lessons. Prior knowledge of elementary math, such as multiplying, fractions, decimals, division, addition, and subtraction is expected. Live One-on-one tutoring are available via zoom at an additional cost for students who need extra help. Students are welcome to message me at any time with questions or concerns, and I can provide additional videos on specific topics if needed. Effective communication is key since there are no live sessions.
