このクラスで学べること
In this Spanish Language Arts class, students will strengthen and develop their academic writing skills by learning the structure and organization of an opinion paragraph. Students will practice opinion writing while also paying attention to the components and rules of academic writing: * Logical and structured form * Components such as introduction, body, conclusion * Appropriate punctuation such as capitals, commas, periods, etc. Why writing? Writing is an essential skill in itself and a powerful tool for improving reading skills, comprehension, and content learning. Writing by hand also engages fine motor skills and it has been shown to increase memory, retention. focus, creativity, and even improve your mood! Students will also practice speaking, listening, and reading through collaboration and participation during class and through Flipgrid (optional) after class. What is Flipgrid? Flipgrid is a free, safe, easy to use, education-focused platform to record and share short videos. It's a great way to practice reading skills, build confidence in speaking, and even celebrate finished assignments! Also, sharing videos with their own group, helps students build and strengthen social learning communities. PLEASE NOTE: This class is presented completely in Spanish. Students are encouraged to use Spanish as much as possible, with the understanding that they are still developing Spanish as their second language. Students will participate within an “You do, I help" class model. This means students "do" by composing a written answer to a prompt. As the teacher, "I help" by modeling proper Spanish while providing guidance and support. Each week, they will complete one part of their rainbow craftivity. What is a craftivity? It's a hands-on, creative activity that becomes an educational tool. Each part of the craftivity will serve as a jumping off point to answer an opinion prompt. The 6 themes will be: Week 1 - Favorite animal Week 2 - Favorite food Week 3 - Favorite clothing Week 4 - Favorite character Week 5 - Favorite dessert Week 6 -Favorite book or series Some printed materials will be needed. 教師の専門知識と資格
I focus on Spanish Literacy for students in Immersion and Dual Language Programs, basically, all things related to reading and writing. I specialize in targeted tutoring for struggling, underperforming, and at-risk students in the early grades (k-3) who need to catch up in reading, writing, fluency, and comprehension. My style is relaxed, but very academic.
I've been a teacher since 2000 and a private tutor since 2014. I have a Licentiate in Elementary Education from Escuela Normal "Fronteriza" and a Master's Degree in Docent Development from Universidad Pedagógica Nacional in Baja California, México.
I was born and raised in Mexicali. I was a first grade elementary school teacher for 6 years before moving to the United States in 2006. Spanish is my first language and I love sharing it with others!
I have 3 children in a Spanish Immersion program: a 9th grader starting high school in the fall, an incoming 7th grade middle schooler, and one still in elementary in 5th grade. 3 kids in 3 schools! I spend my days tutoring while my pug Paco keeps me company. He naps and snores by my side. When I'm not tutoring, I like to garden or go to Disneyland. We live close to the parks in California, so we visit as often as we can. Pugs and Disney, that's me!
