1. Students will learn the proper spellings of third-grade-level words and their usage in the English language. 
2. Special focus on phonemic awareness, homophones, and words that just don't fit the "rules".
3. Students will gain confidence in their spelling, reading, and writing skills.

I am a state-certified Elementary Teacher who has become aware of the absence of structured spelling instruction in the schools today. In my private reading tutoring practice, I have watched my students become strong and independent spellers by using my approach. I have taught over a thousand spelling students on Outschool since March 2020 in second through middle school grade levels.

詳細: Students will write sentences or a story with their spelling words. There are also worksheets assigned with different activities and puzzles. The homework assignments, including the worksheets, are the same each week but the worksheets are customized to each weekly list.

Optional digital activities are also customized to the weekly lists.

詳細: There is a pre-recorded spelling test available to the student each week. Completing the test is optional but highly encouraged so students can track their progress.

The method of instruction used in this class is Phono-Graphix which is based on the Science of Reading and is Dyslexia-friendly. CEFR B1

Students need to know at least one sound for each letter in the alphabet. (All vowels have more than one sound but students need to know at least one of those sounds.) They also need to know these letter combinations: sh, th, ch, and ck.
