*New learners are welcome at any point in the year! This is a full year of 3rd-grade curriculum taught by a Georgia-certified teacher. We will cover 3rd-grade standards in math, reading, writing, grammar, phonics, science, and social studies. This class meets for 50 minutes every Monday-Thursday, covering one subject live each day. Along with live class meetings, week-long projects, games, and assignments will be given for each subject to continue the learning. If ever a learner misses a live class, a recording of the class will be sent to them. For math and reading, we typically cover one unit per week, with built-in reviews throughout the year to retain what we have learned. For writing/grammar/phonics, we cover one grammar or phonics skill a week and then work on a long writing over several weeks. For science and social studies, we go back and forth between science and social studies units. Our social studies lessons also highlight key historical figures as a means to teach about certain events. Each week, your learner will have a choice of projects to complete for a grade. They will choose one project to complete that will integrate subjects from the week and receive a grade between 0-100%. These projects are as simple as writing a report to constructing an experiment and have options for every type of learner so your child can learn and master in their own way. Our social studies lessons will occasionally cover some hard subjects, such as civil rights, European exploration and colonization, and the mistreatment of Indigenous peoples in North America. This class covers these topics in a very light way that is age-appropriate while still teaching the truth about these moments in history.

I will supply the curriculum and printable materials, all your learner needs is a printer, paper, and something to write with. Each week your learner will have a list of optional projects, some of which require other common household items (ex: a box and foil to make a solar oven). This is optional and not a necessity, but will enhance your learner's experience!
