What will be taught?:
This class teaches a full year’s curriculum of Math, English including; reading, writing, grammar/phonics and  spelling; Science, including hands-on experiments and Social studies including civics  for 2nd grade on a flexible schedule. No live meetings will take place but lots of fun, hands-on videos will be posted to complete at your leisure. Learners can interact with the teacher and other learners and take part in the set activities. 

What topics will the class cover?:
Each week, we will have rotational lessons in English, Math, Science and Social Studies. There will be activities posted for  math, English, and spelling practice each week. Teachers are available to answer any questions and will give feedback on the homework. 


How is the class structured?:
Our Flex classes provide the opportunity to participate in a fun engaging class on a schedule that works for you. Our classes include interactive games and other hands-on activities as well as physical movement to engage every child in their learning. All of our classes are taught in a 100% inclusive and child-led environment.

-Math- Partition Into Halves, Thirds, & Fourths
-Civics- Voting
-Life Science-Physical Changes & Properties of Matter
-Reading- Comprehension

Week 2
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Add 3-Addend and 4-Addend Numbers
-Geography-Climate
-Writing-Talk about a special memory you have with a loved one
-Life Science- Light Energy

Week 3
-Grammar-ABC Order
-Reading- Comprehension
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Telling Time 
-Earth Science- Stars and Galaxies
-Civics-I want to be president

Week 4
-Grammar-Literacy Skills
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing-Write an article for the school newspaper offering tips about how to show kindness.
-Math-Money
-Civics- Government Services
-Physical Science- Chemical Changes


Week 5
-Grammar-Time Order Words
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Word problems
-Geography-Natural resources: renewable and nonrenewable
-Life Science- Heat Energy

Week 6
-Reading- Main Idea and Details
-Writing-Where could I go to find your favorite animal? Tell me about this place.
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Economics- Saving is important
-Math- Adding/Subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers
-Earth Science- Phases of the Moon

Week 7
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing-Using the five senses, describe water.
-Grammar- Capitalization and Punctuation
-Economics- Budgeting
-Physical Science- Simple Machines
-Math- Shapes

Week 8
