Week of October 3- Reading - We will examine characters in a narrative text. Week of October 10- Writing- We will learn about descriptive words and write super sentences! Week of October 17- Writing- We will write poetry describing ourselves. Week of October 24- Reading- We will learn about an author's purpose when writing. Week of October 31- Paragraph Writing - We will learn about procedural writing and write a how-to paragraph. Week of November 7- Reading - We will identify problems and solutions in our reading. Week of November 14- Writing- We will learn about interviews and write interview questions. Week of November 21- Reading-We will learn about facts and opinions. Week of November 28- Reading: We will do a close read of a nonfiction text. Week of December 5- Paragraph Writing - We will learn about descriptive writing and write a descriptive paragraph. Week of December 12- Reading- We will compare and contrast. Week of December 19- Writing- We will create our own characters and use them in a story. (2 Week Break) Week of January 9- Writing- We will write letters about the year ahead. Week of January 16- Reading- We will understand the sequence of events in our reading. Week of January 23- Grammar- We will learn about punctuation (apostrophes). Week of January 29- Reading- We will learn about finding the main idea and details. Week of February 5- Reading- We will take a close look at a poem. Week of February 12- Writing- We will write an opinion paragraph. Week of February 19- Reading- We will do a close read of a mystery. Week of February 26- Poetry - We will learn about poetry and triangle triplets. Week of March 4- Reading- We will examine point of view. Week of March 11- Writing- We will write descriptive paragraphs. Week of March 18- Poetry- We will write list poems and shape poetry. Week of March 25- We will write descriptive paragraphs. Week of April 2- We will examine a fictional short story. Week of April 8- Reading/Writing- We will look at folk tales and learn about antonyms. Week of April 15- Reading/Writing- We will look at folk tales (#2) and learn about quotation marks. Week of April 22- Writing- We will write opinion paragraphs. Week of April 29- Writing- We will write friendly letters. Week of May 6- Reading- We will do a close read of a fiction text. Week of May 13- Writing- We will write narrative paragraphs. Week of May 20- Reading - We will read two poems and learn about poetry. Week of May 27- Writing- We will write opinion paragraphs. Week of June 3- Grammar/Reading- We will learn about plurals and palindromes. Week of June 10- Writing- We will write descriptive paragraphs. Week of June 17- Reading- We will do a close read of a fiction text. Summer: Week of June 24 - We will learn about narrative writing. Week of July 1 - We will read and work on our nonfiction reading comprehension. Week of July 8 - We will learn the parts of speech. Week of July 15- We will learn how to find character traits. Week of July 22 - We will make our sentences super! (by adding details) Week of July 29 - We will learn about author's purpose (to inform). Week of August 5- We will write procedurally. Week of August 12 - We will identify problems and solutions in our reading. Week of August 19 - We will work on our fiction reading comprehension.
