Students will learn to read by practicing their phonics and reading skills through interactive fun activities.  The students will practice letter identification (upper and lower case), letter sounds, vowels / consonants, CVC words, sight words, digraphs/ blends, R-controlled vowels, reading practice with teacher created simple words/phrases/sentences/passages, and reading comprehension.

Former Elementary teacher (Early Childhood to Grade 6; ESOL/ESL) for 6 years & currently Homeschooling my PreK/Kindergarten aged child.

EDUCATION: 
•	Master's degree in Elementary Education from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana. I graduated with highest distinction and received a 2010 IACTE Future Educator’s Award.
•	I have a Bachelor’s Degree in French, which I studied alongside many other foreign languages. I received a Faculty Award 1997-1999.
CERTIFICATIONS:
•	New Hampshire Teaching License, Elementary Ed (K-6), Early Childhood (N-3), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL K-6th).
•	Texas Teaching License, Generalist Grades (Early Childhood-6th)

The teacher may use a story she wrote to support class lessons as an additional activity for students as needed.

The teacher may use excerpts of story books and quick transition video clips (with author's/performer's/creator's permissions) to engage learners who prefer to observe and listen in this class. These will only be used as supporting materials to provide opportunities for social engagement and will not be used for long periods of the class.
