These tutoring sessions are designed to offer additional assistance to students' writing in the areas of thesis statements, editing and revising, and more. Additional times can be added upon request, please reach out if you would like to ask about private tutoring. This class is focused on students who need help getting started, developing their ideas for their work, checking for plagiarism, and editing and revising. In my tutoring, I focus on essay writing, research papers, college application essays, scholarship essays, and more. I create a structured tutoring session based on the need of the student. I ask that the material that the student wants to work on be sent at least an hour prior to the meeting. Topics I can cover, but are not limited to, in these areas: Essay writing- Developing a thesis Paragraph transitions Finding your writing voice Grammar Editing Research Papers- Finding sources Summarizing Sources Incorporating sources into an essay or paper Outlining Avoiding plagiarism Grammar Editing College Application Essays- Writing to a target audience Identifying your qualities and highlighting them Grammar Editing Scholarship Essays- Tailoring to the specific scholarship Identifying your qualities and highlighting them Grammar Editing These sessions are for high schools students looking to improve their writing skills and prepare for college. My teaching style is based on the need of the student. Let me know your learning style (visual, kinesthetic, auditory, etc.) so I can create a session best for you.
