週1時間. Each week students will be expected to go on a word hunt to find words to share in the next class. There will be other printouts to complete to help solidify the skills. Printouts will be posted to the classroom before class. PLEASE make a habit to always CHECK THE CLASSROOM BEFORE CLASS STARTS for any printouts they will need during class, I will not wait to start class if a child does not have their materials.テスト
Formative assessments will be done through out each class to gavage progress and make adjustments to the next lesson if neededこの文章は自動翻訳されています

This 8 session 1:1 tutoring course is part 3 of a series that teaches the 6 syllable types. My Crack the Code series focuses on the decoding side of the Simple View of Reading. Each course in this series can stand alone or be taken in sequence. Skills covered in this course are listed below. Each lesson will be adjusted to meet the needs of the learner. The Simple View of Reading is: Decoding (D) x Language Comprehension (LC) = Reading Comprehension (RC) In this course, I will start building the bridge to reading comprehension by focusing on the basics of decoding. Part 2 includes the closed, open, magic-e, vowel team, and bossy-r syllable types along with practice of High Frequency Words that break the syllable type rules, and reading multisyllabic words. Once they have learned about the syllable types, they will go on a word hunt in their favorite book and practice using their new decoding skills. This will help transfer their decoding skills to real life reading. In each session or two, students will learn about a syllable type (D). Students will also be introduced to high frequency words (HFW) that look like they should follow the syllable patterns, but break the syllable rules. They will be given strategies to help remember these words. At the end of the course, the learner will be expected to go on a word hunt in their favorite book. If time permits, the student will read a sentence or 2 with the word in it (LC) and tell me what is happening in their book. (RC) I will use the I do, we do, you do format while teaching. I use explicit language and questioning to guide student learning. The format for each class will look something like this: * Warm up activity (5 minutes) -review of a skill, students sharing homework, or a phonemic awareness activity * Introduce a new or expand on a previous syllable type. (10 minutes) * Practice the new syllable in reading single or multi syllable words by playing a game (10 minutes) * Practice High Frequency Words (HFW) that are rule breaker for a syllable generalization (10 minutes) * Closure- review or discuss homework for next class (5 minutes) This schedule is always SUBJECT TO CHANGE depending on the learners. They will help pace the class. I like to end all classes with a fun review game if time permits. All documents and worksheets will be provided for printing prior to each class. Please be sure to print off any materials before class starts. Our time together is limited and each class is full of learning. Your child will also need: *a white broad, marker, and eraser * red crayon and something to put under paper that will have a bumpy texture (mesh plastic canvas, sandpaper) These tools will be used in almost every class as a means to interact and provide feedback to me so I can gauge their learning and help pace the class. Please have these ready to use at any time. Even though we will learn how letters can sound differently when placed next to another letter or where they are located in a word, students will need to be fluent in their basic letters and sounds. Class 1: * Advanced Phonological Awareness practice with syllables? * Review Closed and Open Syllables (Students should have a basic understanding of beginning and ending consonant blends and vowel sounds along with digraphs) * Introduce -ng/-nk Closed syllable spelling patterns * HFW rule breakers Class 2 * Other Closed syllable patterns (-tch/.dge and Wild Old Words * Dictation or words and sentences with the open syllable * HFW rule breakers * Syllabicate 2 and 3 syllable words with open and closed syllables Class 3: * Introduce Magic-e syllable type with a focus on ire and uCe * Magic-e or No Magic-e * Dictation or words and sentences with the magic-e syllable * HFW rule breakers Class 4: * Vowel Team Syllable type (ai/ay, ea/ea, oa/oe) * Dictation or words and sentences with the vowel team syllable * HFW rule breakers Class 5 * Homophones with Vowel Teams and Magic-e * Dictation or words and sentences with the vowel team and Magic-e syllable types * HFW rule breakers Class 6: * Bossy-r syllable type * Dictation or words and sentences with the vowel team syllable * HFW rule breakers * Syllabicate 2 and 3 syllable words with mixed syllables Week 7 * Final Stable - C-le Syllable Type * Using C-le in Open and Closed syllable words * Dictation with C-le words and sentences Class 8 * Put it all together by going on a word hunt in the student's favorite book. The student will look for words that follow the syllable types that have been studied and apply their new knowledge by reading to me. (A passage will be provided for students to read if needed) * If time permits, we will syllabicate 2 and 3 syllable words with different syllable types This plan is tentative and subject to change depending on the learners. I am also a trained Dyslexia teacher. This class is wonderful for students with dyslexia or reading difficulties. If you are interested in this class and have a student that is outside the age range, please contact me for more information. Struggles with reading can not be defined by age. *PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE REGISTRATION* Please feel free to message me with questions, but I do work at a brick and mortar school during the day so answering messages will most likely be after those school hours. I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible. I am in the Central time zone. REFUNDS: I use the 'LIMITED' refund policy for my classes.

In my 25+ years of teaching I have been trained in all kinds of different ways to teach students to read. This most recent method of teaching students to understand how and why letters make different sounds when put with other letters and placed in certain parts of the words has completely changed my way of thinking. I have seen huge gains in the students I work with in my brick and mortar school by teaching students the syllable types and how those syllable types work together to make bigger words.
