What's included
Group experience
Every week learners are encouraged to share their vegan dishes and how they made them, and I will share my pictures as well. All pictures are welcome whether successes or failures so we can learn from each other! Every week there will be a discussion post for students to share their thoughts (i.e. what is your favorite fall dish?). Students can also create their own discussions to encourage a broader learning experience. There will be a monthly simple challenge (i.e. make a dish using seasonal produce or make a pizza from scratch) and monthly challenges/games (many inspired by popular cooking shows) to inspire creativity in the kitchen as well as inspiration for fellow students. I will provide tips, advice, etc. weekly as well as answering any questions or concerns students have along the way. Students are also encouraged to submit challenge ideas. Let's get cooking! As moderator of this group, I will be providing challenges (along with also choosing ideas from students), encouragement, asking questions to engage discussions and spark creativity in the kitchen, providing feedback as well as encouraging students to also engage with each others' posts, posting my own examples to challenges, and reviewing all activity to keep this a fun and safe space on a daily basis.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to improve their kitchen skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a BS in elementary education with a Kindergarten Endorsement. I currently homeschool one of my three children (the other two are now adults).
Currently, I am working with a tutoring company helping students improve their reading level. In the past, I have taught science and engineering classes in afterschool programs and camps. I have taught preschool in childcare centers. I have also taught math, literature/writing, and social studies in a homeschool co-op. I prefer to provide an interactive and hands- on experience.
I love literature for all ages and hope to share my enthusiasm. I am passionate about nutrition and encouraging kids to help out in the kitchen. I have recently been taking classes myself to learn more about nutrition and received a Plant Based Nutrition Certificate through eCornell in 2000. In spring 2023, I became certified in Holistic Nutrition and Youth Nutrition through AFPA.
Most of all I like to engage my students so learning is fun no matter the subject.
Please leave me a message if there is something in particular you would like to see me offer.
