Group experience
This group is for learners who love the ukulele. Learners will be encouraged to share what they are currently learning on the ukulele, their favorite ukulele songs and what they love about the instrument with the group. There will be at least 2 weekly posts. Each post will be created to assist students in refining and learning new ukulele skills, introduce learners to a variety of ukulele music and spark conversation and passion for the instrument. Learners will interact with each other and with me multiple times per week. I will moderate all posts and comments throughout the week, ensuring that we have positive, inspiring learning community and engage with the content posted by learners to further discussion. Hi! My name is Ms. Jackie!
I am a certified music educator. I have taught music in public schools for 11 years and private music lessons for 16 years. I received my M.A. in Music & Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and B.M. in Music Education from Ithaca College. I teach music full-time in public elementary schools and part-time on Outschool. I love teaching music so much that I do both!
My specialty is teaching early childhood music classes and beginning instrumental music lessons.
My goal is to make music learning engaging, joyful, and frustration-free!
One of the classes I teach on Outschool is called Uke Can Do It. It is a multi-week group ukulele class designed for young beginners. Students will learn the basics of ukulele including how to hold the instrument, playing position and rest position, how to strum, proper hand and finger position, simple chords, how to count and play chord patterns, and how to play multiple popular children's songs.
I also teach private music lessons for complete beginners, intermediate players, or advanced players who are looking to develop new skills and further their technique.
A fun fact about me is I have a dog named Sammy and he loves when I sing to him! He gets excited and his tail wags a lot!
Hope to see you in my music classes! All learners are welcome!
