What's included

Group experience

US Grade 5 - 8
The world is full of amazing, bizarre, cool, adorable, and impressive creatures. The world is also full of learners who like them as much as you! In this group, students from around the world will have the opportunity to chat and meet other zoology enthusiasts in a safe, fun, and interactive environment.

Some of the ways that group members will be able to interact include:

Discussion Posts – Topics of conversation and weekly themes will be posted periodically to stir up chatter amongst group members. Some examples may be discussing favourite venomous creatures, animal vs. animal, best defence mechanism in the Animal Kingdom etc.

Animal of the Week – Each week, another animal takes the spotlight. Learners are encouraged to find and share fun facts about this creature, discuss if they’ve ever seen one, and commence in general chatter about it.

Games and Challenges – Periodically, there will be a variety of small games (and maybe a few fun quizzes) initiated by myself for the group to enjoy. In addition, there will be a variety of optional challenges group members can partake in every so often including a monthly art challenge. If students don't want to participate, there's no pressure too! They are still welcome to comment on submissions and support their fellow group members.

Photo Room – Students are encouraged to share their photos of different animals they’ve either taken with a camera or drawn.

…and so much more!

As the moderator, I make sure that I check on the group, respond to posts, initiate conversations, and come up with new ideas daily!

While in the group, the goal is to get students to be integrated into a community with others that have the same passion as them. The instructor will initiate fun activities, news articles, conversation topics, and challenges for students to participate in throughout the weeks. Everything is challenge by choice and at the comfortability of each individual learner.

Guidelines
Welcome to The Zoology Zone! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 4 instructions we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included. Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs. Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private. Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated. Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered. Have fun! - Remember, this is a fun and welcoming place for everyone to participate with other students from around the world who share your passion. Don't be afraid to participate in all this group has to offer!
