Group experience
Welcome to the Stardrop Saloon -- where the Joja Cola is free, everyone wins at Junimo Kart, and learners can talk all things Stardew Valley! This group seeks your input on how to best play the game! The teacher will post in the group weekly, featuring: an NPC character spotlight, a fish, a crop, a forageable or mineral, achievement, question, trick or tip. Also look for the occasional change-up post corresponding to festivals and special events in game. Learners will interact in the group and contribute by: - Sharing their insight on the featured weekly post - Telling the group any thoughts or helpful hints they have about the game - Sharing their game progress - Asking any questions as they come up in game - Answering any questions from other learners that have arisen Learners are also encouraged to play along with the one-year Community Center challenge or JojaMart challenge! Compare notes with each other as you attempt to finish the entire Community Center or JojaMart in just one year. Please talk to your learner about cyber security and what should or should not be shared during class, as learners may be tempted to share personal information such as server codes or IP address in order to co-op play on their own time. The safe way to do this would be to contact each other in the Parent section of the classroom and directly communicate there through the Outschool messenger service. ** Please note that this class may contain spoilers as learners will be in different stages of game play. ** Special thanks to Stardew Valley game developer Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) for granting his permission for this class to happen!

Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game that was rated by Common Sense Media as 9+. Parents should be advised that there is some alcohol content, and players can brew alcohol as a farm product. One character to interact with appears to be alcoholic (but he gets better through your friendship). Players can marry any one of several characters, regardless of gender. There are a few saucy lines in the relationship dialog. There is some monster killing in dark caves, which younger players may find scary. Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a Stardew Valley enthusiast, myself. I play on PC, and with over 1300 in-game hours I have personally finished 100 percent of the game - three times! Stardew Valley stands head and shoulders above most of the games I've played, and has many valuable educational aspects to teach players while still being a ton of fun to play. I look forward to sharing this game -- and its great lessons -- with students.
