What's included
Group experience
As a homeschool mom I appreciate the flexibility that homeschooling provides for my family. Being able to explore topics of interest, flex our schedules, travel, etc. Well, now with Outschool groups we will have the opportunity to connect with fellow homeschoolers around the world. What an amazing opportunity to connect with the homeschool community and explore what other homeschoolers are up to. In our Pre-teen Homeschool Homeroom you will have the opportunity to share what you are working on and see what others homeschoolers are doing. What an amazing way to get new ideas! Each week I'll include three topic post- 1) A discussion topic question, 2) A "What are you working on?" discussion post and 3) a game. The game will vary each week, ranging from online (Kahoot!, Gimkit, etc.), Pictionary, riddles, etc. As the class moderator I will oversee the group to encourage positive feedback by peers. I hope to bring about an encouraging environment where participants compliment and support each other.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.
In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
