Let's Hang Out! the "Making Friends" Social Group
What's included
Group experience
This is a fun facilitated learner-directed social space for teens! Let's have back and forth conversations, tell a funny story, jokes, memes and share our favorite recipes. Post a poem you've written, a show recommendation or just give a shout out. Carly and Yvonne moderate this group as part of our Teen Classes. This is a group where we can instant post and other people can reply to our posts. We are accepting, supportive and welcoming for Autism, ADHD and ND and NT learners. We like to create inclusive environments where people can learn about each other in a safe and supported space. We meet live once a month in a $1 private social class where we can meet the people behind the posts and talk to our friends! Learners are encouraged to post activities and chat topics for each other. Post should encourage connection and relationship building. Moderators: Carly and Yvonne are here every day checking in and feeding back when needed. We initiate conversation with posts of our own and get out of the way when the teens are talking. Warning: there might be some cuteness overload with pet photos! Image: a pair of cartoon sunglasses with a bright yellow background. Lettering says Let's Hang Out! I've facilitated the Making Friends groups on Outschool since 2017. I believe a safe space that centers young voices is important. I suggest games, say silly stuff, and share creative things to get the party started and then try to stay out of the way.
