Group Experience
Since this is an open discussion history group, families and learners need to know that sensitive topics related to history will be discussed. For example, warfare, the Holocaust, slavery, etc. As a licensed social studies educator, I have extensive training in navigating these topics. I believe in including marginalized groups in all historical discussions and including multiple perspectives when examining the past. I am an experienced online group facilitator having led and managed online discussion groups on a variety of other platforms including informal settings like Facebook as well as professional environments (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard). I am excited to bring this expertise to my awesome Outschool learners! I hold a North Carolina Teaching License for Secondary Social Studies, along with a Bachelor's Degree in History with Minors in Political Science and Middle East Studies. I also have an M. Ed. in Secondary Social Studies Education. I have taught in the face to face classroom for eight years and have taught social studies courses virtually for 7 years. I am also Advanced Placement certified in US History and US Government and Politics.
