What's included
Group experience
This Film Study & Youtube Movie-Making Lounge is an encouraging group for learners to share their original home movies: whether it be comedy sketches, animations (including stop motion), gaming videos, or anything else you can imagine! Learners are encouraged to watch and give their thoughts on each other's movies (either in writing or with the video chat functions), and the instructor will always give constructive feedback on learner posts. The instructor will also stimulate activity in the group by posting weekly Film Discussion prompts to encourage discussion about our favorite movies or showcase filmmaking techniques: Example Film Discussion prompts include: "What's your favorite genre of movie (action, comedy, drama, etc.) and why? What's your favorite movie from that genre?" "Post an example of creative use of CGI (computer-generated imagery, including green screens) from a movie you love. Here's an example: " "Do you have any ideas for the next home movie you want to make?" The instructor will moderate discussions by asking follow-up questions to encourage activity, explain movie-making techniques found in videos posted by learners, post additional videos that connect to those shared by learners, and generally making sure discussions are respectful. Learners who want to learn the fundamentals of Film Study and movie-making in structured lessons are encouraged to take my "Film Study & Youtube Movie-Making" class, in either live: https://outschool.com/classes/film-study-and-youtube-movie-making-JT0olP6k#usu529M6QA or Flex format: https://outschool.com/classes/film-study-and-youtube-movie-making-LKV8kcPr#usu529M6QA See you in the Group! Guidelines
Welcome to the Film Study & Youtube Movie-Making Lounge! I'm excited to watch your home movies and talk about our favorite films with you.
Below are Outschool's group participation guidelines. Above all, be good to each other in the group, and we'll all have fun!
"We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful.
Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included.
Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here
Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs.
Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private.
Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated.
Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered."
