US Grade 3 - 6
~Are you interested in learning about the universe's smallest level? ~Do you have lots of questions that you would like to discuss with a teacher and fellow students? ~ Do you want to discuss some of the bizarre quantum things that happen in the universe? This discussion group will give you a chance to do all of those things. At least once a week I will start a new discussion thread regarding an idea from quantum physics. Learners will have the chance to share their thoughts and questions about the idea. Learners can also post their own discoveries, thoughts, or questions that other learners and I will share our thoughts about. This group is designed to develop a better understanding of quantum physics, and give learners a chance to share their knowledge. As the moderator I will guide discussions and offer insights into ideas learners share with the group. Samples of Types of Posts ~ Weekly informational post from the moderator, with an open-ended question for learners to respond to. ~ Sharing science jokes and/or memes that help learners get a better understanding of quantum physics and share their knowledge. ~ Group members can post open questions to moderator and other learners to discuss quantum ideas you've heard or ideas you might have. ~ Share links to videos you might have seen and discuss ideas from the video. ~ Debate and discuss theories of quantum physics. ~ Discuss ways quantum physics has expanded many different fields of science (quantum computers, astrophysics, etc.)
Learning Goals
Learners will grow confident in asking and answering questions, and work on writing sentences that accurately share their ideas. Learners will also improve their understanding of the foundational ideas of quantum physics.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from St. Cloud State University
I have been teaching homeschoolers ages 6-21 for 18+ years. During that time I've taught all traditional subjects and found ways to tailor them to the needs and learning styles of all learners. I have taught math, chemistry, and physics on Outschool for 3 years. I have studied particle physics in the past and continue to attend particle physics lectures to broaden my base knowledge and help me teach the most up-to-date material possible in this changing field. During my time teaching I've had many learners ask about the subatomic world and what we know about it, which has helped me create strategies in teaching this content.
