What's included

Group experience

This Creative Writing Lounge is an encouraging group for learners to share their original writing: whether it be original short stories, poetry, fan fiction, or anything else you can imagine! Art, including drawings, digital art, Minecraft and Roblox creations, and more, is also welcome.

Learners are encouraged to read and give their thoughts on each other's work (either in writing or with the video chat functions), and the instructor will always give constructive feedback on learner posts. This includes suggestions on verb usage, developing creative voice, plot pacing, and more. The instructor will also moderate by asking thought-provoking questions about stories and ensuring that students are respectful of each other.

The instructor will also stimulate activity in the group by posting weekly Writing Prompts and Brain Warmups.

Example Writing Prompts include:

"Write one chapter from the point of view of a historical figure"
"Write a short story inspired by the Winter Holiday Season"
"Talk a walk outside and write a poem about it"

Brain Warmups are fun games to get us thinking creatively, including:

"If you had a Time Machine, where and when would you travel to?"
"If you found a Genie Bottle, what would you wish for?"
"If you could build your Dream House, what would it look like?"

Learners who want to learn the fundamentals of Creative Writing in structured lessons are encouraged to take my "Creative Writing: Intro to Storytelling" class, in either live: https://outschool.com/classes/creative-writing-intro-to-storytelling-7LW2lQ03#usu529M6QA

or Flex format: https://outschool.com/classes/creative-writing-intro-to-storytelling-XsRcyDa9#usu529M6QA

See you in the Group!

Guidelines
Welcome to the Creative Writing Lounge, I'm excited to read your original stories and play Brain Warmups with you! Below are Outschool's group participation guidelines. Above all, be good to each other in the group, and we'll all have fun! "We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included. Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs. Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private. Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated. Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered."
