Group Experience

This will be a group to encourage learners to share arts and crafts projects they are working on as well as be inspired to begin projects they've wanted to work on but have not. The goal of this group is also to to broaden the scope of arts and crafts ideas for learners to try on their own and share progress and completed projects with others. Another goal will be for those in the group to help each other brainstorm ideas and solutions when a group member asks this of them.
As well as crafting and baking on my own for the majority of my life, I have also incorporated these into my teaching for years. I have led many social groups and enjoy the time of learning and inspiration these offer in a fun and relaxing environment.

Over the years I have loved helping children and teens from 2 years old to 19 improve their speech, language, auditory, phonics, reading, and brain fitness skills and much more. I meet my students where they are at their level. As I teach, I adjust to help reluctant learners as well as learners who may need or want more challenge. I have a lot of experience teaching each of these within the same class. I try to make my classes engaging and fun.

I have a wide range of experience that includes teaching those on the autism spectrum, learning disabled students, add/adhd and many more areas of concern, as well as, experience teaching regular and gifted learners. I have found that patient encouragement in a structured and energetic yet relaxed classroom environment helps a learner's brain focus to receive information better and helps them become detail oriented.

I have spent the past 31+ years enjoying my time working in both public and private schools as well as providing brain fitness training in a Wellness Center. Also, I am TESOL certified and have taught English as a Second Language (ESL) online. During 15 of those years, in addition to working in schools, I loved homeschooling my own children (most grades K2-12) until they graduated high school. During our homeschool years, I helped teach a variety of classes to homeschool students of all ages who were involved in co-ops.

I have both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology and received a Class A (Master's level) teaching certification N-12. I am also an Interactive Metronome Certified Provider (IMCP). Interactive Metronome (IM) is a computer based brain fitness training program.

When I'm not teaching or brain fitness training, I enjoy relaxing and spending time with my family, completing puzzles, crafting and watching family friendly movies.

If you have requests for classes you would like me to teach or have questions, please send me a private message. I will do my best to help you and will get back with you asap. I love teaching online and hope to meet your learner in my classroom soon! Thank you for taking time learn more about me.
Welcome to our Group! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful.

Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included.
Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, and who may have different thoughts and beliefs than you have, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here

Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs.
Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private.

Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated.
Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered.
View and create posts any time, at your own pace..
When your learners are completing their projects, please provide parental guidance for any supplies that might concern you. For example: use of sharp tools, hot glue guns, allergens of any type, small items a younger sibling might put in their mouth, etc.
