In this social justice club we will share our passions for human rights and global social justice. Members can share particular issues that they are concerned about, ask other members questions about ways to get involved and make changes within their communities and around the globe. By learning more about social justice and finding others who share this passion, this group aims to raise awareness and find other who care about the important issue of human rights all around the globe. Examples of potential issues that members might be excited to engage in could include the right to healthy air and water, the rights of Indigenous Peoples or the challenges of global rights to education. Examples of actions the club might decide to engage in could be a letter writing campaign to build awareness for the rights of children to access equal education or a direct action the group could take such as deciding not to buy a particular product that is harmful to the social justice issue that the group is working on. The moderator's role encourages critical thinking and engaged listening to peers. This type of moderation works to create and ensure a safe and supportive environment, where multiple views and ideas are valued and explored while providing encouragement and prompting when necessary. Areas of engagement will be member driven with the moderator acting to facilitate respectful conversation and debate as she guides students through different decision-making processes.

Orientación para padres
The topic of human rights can lead to members learning of upsetting human rights violations around the world. My goal as a moderator is to ensure that honest, fact based information is shared. However, sensitive members may want to consider if learning about social justice and human rights violations will be too upsetting for them.
