Experiencia de grupo

This asynchronous group is meant to help kids normalize and manage anxiety, anger, sadness, and other hard emotions, and learn some coping tools to feel better. It is also a resource to connect with other friends and peers. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and School Counselor, I love teaching kids all about mental health. This group is not meant as a therapeutic type group, or an in-person group, but a group meant to learn skills and coping tools to manage anxiety, anger, and other emotions. I will regularly post discussion boards (ex: What are you grateful for?, What is something you do to relax?) that students can respond and collaborate together, a video of me teaching a coping tool, and a meditation. Occasionally throughout the group, I will also post challenges, games, activities, projects, or competitions. Some examples of these would include a mindfulness scavenger hunt, making a worry box, making a gratitude journal, and a coping tools competition I will post 2-3 time per week, or more, depending on how many learners are in the group. I will engage with students on a regular basis, and will respond to the students' posts in a timely manner. I will try to respond the same day they post their content. Students are also welcome to open up questions or discussions, as long as they are in accordance with the group/Outschool policies, and I will respond to these questions or discussions as well. As the group educator/moderator, I will set expectations and rules to keep the group fun and safe, and to make sure nothing too personal is shared. If a post is not in compliance with the rules, the post will be removed and I will send a private message to the learner explaining the Outschool policies. This group is meant to be a fun way to connect with others and learn ways to manage anxiety and feel better. I hope this can be a useful tool to continually work on and manage anxiety, anger, and sadness in fun and interactive ways.

Orientación para padres
This group is all about managing anxiety, anger, sadness, and other emotions through coping tools, self-care, and mindfulness. This group is NOT meant to be a therapy group, medical diagnosis group, or medical help group. This group is meant to give all types of learners techniques to handle everyday stressors, but it is not meant to be a place for learners to get therapeutic support, or share experiences that are too personal, such as trauma, grief, etc. This group does not meet in person (Although I do offer other in-person classes on Outschool). All of the activities of this group are asynchronous and go at your own pace. As a reminder everything shared on the group is private with the group, but it will be shared to whoever is a part of the group. The teacher/moderator will set rules and make sure that nothing to sensitive is shared. If learners post things that are against Outschool policy, the posts will be removed from the group page and the moderator will send a private message to the learner explaining the policies. If the learner continues to post things against the group/Outschool policies, the learner will be removed from the group to ensure the safety of other learners.

Welcome to our Group! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included. Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here. Remember to be kind in each of your posts. Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs. Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private. Since this group if focused on emotions, do not share things that are too personal or things that might make other learners feel uncomfortable. This is not meant to be a therapy group, however, you are welcome to share things that help you feel good and happy and things that help you feel better and things that make you happy! Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated. Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent or inappropriate images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered.

I have a Master's degree in Social Work, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a School Social Worker/Mental Health Counselor (with those licenses). I have done in-person and online teaching when the schools closed down in the pandemic and through many classes on Outschool (flex and in-person). I have been teaching children about mental health for over four years, and I love helping kids learn ways to feel empowered to overcome hard emotions and unhelpful thoughts!
