This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the animal kingdom. This comprehensive course introduces students to the diversity of life, emphasizing the structure, function, behavior, and classification of animals. From the significance of zoology and its foundational principles to animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior. Students will learn the principles of classification and taxonomy, and understand the relationships between diverse animal groups. Ecology and animal interactions within ecosystems are explored, along with the ethical considerations and conservation efforts necessary for preserving biodiversity. This class will be lecture and presentation-based. Each week a new topic or animal phyla will be introduced. This is an ongoing class so students can take all of the classes or drop in for a particular topic or animal group. This class is great for students with a scientific background but is appropriate for all high school students regardless of experience or knowledge.
