Handing out stickers, I love celebrating progress with learners and it's really good way of showing them milestones and bringing up how much they've accomplished or changed over a period of time. That way they can also self evaluate.

Experiencia de clase

This unique weekly class brings together art and reading, two essential elements for early learning. Here’s what you and your child can expect:

Why Art & Reading?
Many young readers benefit from visual learning, which helps them better remember and connect with stories. Creating art from their reading experiences deepens their understanding, reinforces key themes, and encourages them to express their ideas visually. The social aspect of this club allows them to share and discuss, building confidence and communication skills in a safe and welcoming environment.

Class Structure:
Welcome Time: We begin with a warm welcome for all students, helping everyone feel at ease and ready to learn.

Topic of the Day: The teacher will introduce the theme or concept for the session. This might relate to a particular theme, character, or storytelling element.

Creative Project & Prompts: Each child will participate in a creative art project based on the topic. Prompts and suggestions will guide them, encouraging individual expression and creativity.

Sharing Time: After working on their drawings, students will have a chance to share their artwork, discuss their favorite parts, and talk about the characters, settings, or themes they’ve illustrated.

Book Recommendation Time: We’ll go around the group, letting each child recommend a favorite book, and if possible, show an illustration they made based on it. This peer-to-peer sharing often inspires other children to explore new books.

Flexible Participation: If your child doesn’t have a drawing ready, they can still join, listen, and share ideas in the discussion.

Questions & Engagement:
To foster a love for reading and help with comprehension, each session will include discussion prompts such as:

Who is your favorite character, and why?
What challenges did the characters face, and how did they overcome them?
Did the book teach any lessons or include teamwork?
What message did the story leave you with?
These questions not only support comprehension but also give kids the chance to think critically about the story.

Materials & Resources:
All that’s needed are basic art supplies (paper, crayons, markers, or colored pencils) and access to books. We’ll also have a shared space where students can post their artwork with book titles. This allows others to see the recommendations and read along later if they’d like.

Topics and Themes:

For reading materials, parents and students can explore options on LibraryApp.com or other ebook platforms, making it easy to access books at home or on the go.

Multiple Time Slots Available:
To accommodate your schedule, we offer two class times each week. If your child misses a session, they’re welcome to join the alternate time slot that week.

This club is a fantastic way to get kids excited about reading and expressing their thoughts through art. It's all about having fun, building a love for stories, and boosting confidence in a supportive setting. For any additional support, feel free to reach out!

Looking forward to creating and exploring with your young reader!

I’m a professional artist, muralist, and painter with a passion for teaching kids how to draw. With a background in University course, Montessori education ,and academic art training, I love helping young artists explore their personal interests and creativity through various mediums like color pencils, watercolors, gouache, pen, oil pastels, and markers.

One fun fact about my art background: I’ve always enjoyed drawing anime and painting moody studio scenes, and I even dabble in animation from time to time because I adore the charm of 2D work—it’s my way of relaxing and staying inspired.

In my classes, we focus on the elements of art and principles of design, but most importantly, I encourage students to create work that makes them happy and reflects who they are. It’s been a privilege to help many students perfect their skills, learn new techniques, and discover inspiration from other artists. Teaching art is truly my joy, and I believe every child has a unique story to tell through their work.
