Experiencia de clase

*Although this a 26-week class, students are welcome to join or leave on any given week.*

In this ongoing class, students will meet twice a week (once on Tuesday & once on Thursday) to learn about the letter of the week! Please note that this class focuses on proper writing formation and letter sounds!

On Tuesdays:
-Students will be introduced to the new letter of the week. On this day, we really focus on how to properly write the letter and distinguishing between the upper and lower case letters.
-The teacher will demonstrate how to write both the uppercase and lowercase letters using proper formation.
-Students will then be guided through the provided worksheet (that corresponds with the letter of the week). This worksheet includes letter tracing, coloring objects that begin with the letter, and distinguishing between upper case and lower case letters.

On Thursdays:
-Students will review the letter of the week. On this day, our main focus is the sound the letter makes.
-The teacher will then guide the students in a directed drawing of an animal or object that begins with the letter of the week. Why directed drawings? Not only will the drawing correspond with our letter of the week (allowing us to work on our phonics skills), but I believe directed drawings help students with many other skills such as listening, following directions, & paying attention to details! Plus, drawing all of those shapes and lines allows children to practice their fine motor skills (which is necessary for handwriting). And last but not least... directed drawings are just plain and simple FUN! :)

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: In order to take this class, students should have a proper pencil grasp established as this class focuses greatly on writing formation.

Perfil
Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
My name is Ms. Angela. I am a mom, wife, teacher, and self-proclaimed animal lover! Family and teaching are my number one passions in life! I first fell in love with teaching way back in high school while working at a local daycare. I taught at that same daycare (as the lead pre-k teacher) all through my college career. After graduating, I left that daycare to teach as a certified teacher at a local elementary school. There, I earned a total of five years of teaching experience in both the 2nd and 4th grade. Then, after having kids of my own, I decided to create an in-home, preschool based daycare which is where I am currently and have been for the past five years! It has been amazing getting to teach this young group of kiddos again, especially alongside my own two children.

A few other things about myself:
My husband and I have been married for ten years! Together, we have a five-year-old son named Dominic and a three-year-old daughter named Carmela.
My favorite subjects to teach are science and art!
I also loooove photography and I spend any spare time I have behind the camera!
