In this class we learn to narrow down the purpose and intent that the prompt is asking us to complete.  In addition, we discuss other important criteria that makes their response to the prompt stronger with supporting details and evidence as well as organized with an introductory and conclusion statement. Within the class, we focus on the writing genre for the week so that students are familiar with the expectations for each genre since each has various criteria to meet writing expectations.  Below are a just a few of the many different prompts we will analyze and answer to.

CLASS OUTLINE
-Meet and greet
-Review the prompt and identify the genre type
-Discuss criteria needed for the prompt and genre
-Brainstorm thoughts with class
-Learners begin to draft their ideas
-Teacher provides ongoing feedback for learners that share out their writing ideas
-Share out final thoughts and ideas
-Students are encouraged to complete their writing after class with feedback provided from class
