Writing Juice is a fun, fast-paced 3-session class designed to help young writers unlock their confidence and craft magnetic writing. Each session focuses on a core writing skill — starting with irresistible opening lines, building flow between ideas, and wrapping up with powerful closings. Through games, mini-lessons, and guided practice, students will learn how to write paragraphs that feel strong, smooth, and full of voice. We use the JUICE teaching method to keep things interactive and supportive: Jumpstart: Icebreaker or warm-up writing game Unlock: Learn a writing concept or strategy Ignite: Practice through a focused writing challenge Connect: Share, reflect, and receive peer/teacher feedback Elevate: Wrap with a power phrase and confidence boost Each student will receive a Writer’s Juice Toolkit, complete with sentence starters, hook ideas, and confidence tips they can use in school or at home. This class is perfect for writers who enjoy expressing themselves, want help organizing their thoughts, or just need a spark to get words flowing!

All curriculum materials — including sentence starters, writing prompts, and the Writing Juice Toolkit — are provided by the instructor. Learners will need: Pencil or pen Notebook or loose paper (or digital writing tool if preferred) A printable version of the Toolkit will be shared before class, and students may write on paper or type in a document — whatever works best for them!

I’m Carlos Malbrew — an author, creative writing teacher, and published playwright with over a decade of experience helping students find their voice through writing. I’ve taught reading and writing in schools across the U.S. and China, and my work includes everything from elementary ESL to high school composition and storytelling.
I hold a B.A. in English, Master's in Public Administration, and have published several creative works including The Danger! Kids series and Words From Heaven. I believe writing can empower young people not just in school, but in life — and I created the Writing Juice class to turn “I don’t know what to write!” into “Watch what I can do!”
