Students will review story sequence and use picture prompts to create our own creative holiday stories starting from a key word outline.

As a class, we will use a picture as our inspiration for a short holiday story.  Through teacher modeling, students will learn how to outline their stories during class before writing the story in their own words for homework.

Following, students will have the opportunity to share their stories in the classroom or aloud during class before choosing their own picture for an outline and story.  

Students will be exposed to dress-up techniques that will add detail and description to their stories, such as adverbs and alliteration through short class games.   

This class is based on the IEW writing strategies: creating a key word outline and following a story sequence.  Students do not need to have previous IEW writing experience to take this class.  The ability to write is important, as students will be recording their own story outlines before writing their own stories.
