Escribe tu propio campamento misterioso

This fun, interactive class will be broken up into five different days as follows:

Day 1: Example story from the teacher -can you solve my mystery?
Day 2: Outline of student's mysteries
Day 3: Rough Drafts
Day 4: Revising and Editing
Day 5: Sharing 

Throughout the week, students will interact with the teacher, turning in their work and receiving feedback through each step of their stories. We will not only discuss what can make a good mystery story, but also what makes a good storyline in general. My class is structured with direct instruction with examples, guided practice, and independent practice. I love giving students the tools that they need to create better content on their own, and I am passionate about teaching students to write succinct stories with excellent content. 

Students should come to class with the ability to type their outline and story on a computer or tablet. I do not accept hand-written work. Students should also have basic abilities in punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and spelling to get the most out of the class, especially the revising and editing stage.  

Please note: students are asked to read their work on the last day of class. Because of this, their work becomes part of my class content. I do not allow any horror themes or gory content, and I require that every story must end with a resolved and hopeful ending. Teacher discretion will be used, and students may be asked to change their content if it does not meet class standards.
