During each class meting, students will be shown a picture of a scene (involving a person, animal, etc.) and will discuss with the teacher and other students what they see. Then, with teacher assistance, they will write a short paragraph of either 2-3 or 3-4 sentences (depending on their writing abilities) about what they see in the picture, or what they think might happen next. If time allows, students will also have the opportunity to draw the picture that was shown to them. This will reinforce their writing! This class will get students excited about writing and will help build their confidence as emerging writers!
