*Please review the class description and see if your student's experience fits in with what will be being taught. These classes are aimed for beginners, but violin students, I suggest at least a small amount of experience. There will be NO time to tune the violins or viola before class, except for a quick tune. If you do not know how to tune your student's violin or viola, you will need to contact me or they will not be able to participate. Instruments need to be out of the case, tuned up, shoulder rest on, bow tightened appropriately BEFORE class begins. Again, if you need help with this, please message me outside of classes. *I absolutely will need to see the student to teach them properly, some students like to hide from the camera, and that will not be acceptable in the class because proper learning of the instrument will not be accomplished. I need to see their faces and their hands please! My teaching style, is I explain the music and the songs, and then I play a demonstration on my instrument. The the students will take turn playing the songs. They will have many chances to ask questions or play songs multiple times. We will continue the songs until they can reach the best of their ability until the class is over. Some students will pick up the songs faster than others, but any exposure to learning an new instrument is a good thing. Most of my students excel pretty quickly! This online music camp is constructed for Monday through Friday, December 18th-23rd. How the camp works I will teach 3 classes a day. The first class is called Class A, and it is a 50 minute class teaching the violin or viola, followed by a 5 or 10 minute break. The second class is called Class B, and is for everyone, the first 25 minutes being music theory, a 5 minute break, and then other 25 minutes is a few rounds of a fun game I play with students called Music Bingo. The final class of the day is called Class C, and is for piano/keyboard. You can pick between A,B, and C, with the price set. Or choose A and B, or B and C. Those classes will be discounted because you only be taking 2 classes a day and not three. I will provide the discount code for that, here on Outschool. There will be 2 camps offered next week, Monday-Friday 9am-12pm or 1pm-3pm. There is a discount if you are only doing 1 instrument, violin or piano, instead of participating in both classes. Remember everyone has to take the music theory class which is in the middle hour. The discount code for only one instrument is NICKIECAMP1INSTRUMENT100,if you use the discount code, you will not be able to participate in all 3 hours a day. If you miss a class, you do not get refunded or a discount, but you can review the recorded class UPON REQUEST, and I can even supplement you with an extra instructional video if you are absent for a day of camp due to whatever reason, or in the off case of severe technical difficulties. I suggest using a computer or laptop for this class using the "Original Sound for Musicians" option in Zoom, but tablets are acceptable. Each of my classes requires hand outs and sheet music that need to be printed from home. The classes will not be effective or fun if there is no sheet music or worksheets for each student to work on. Plan to save everything we do in class so you can review it in the future, either for my class or for another teacher's class! Violinists or Violists will need: An instrument, pick violin or viola. Bow, case, rosin, music stand, and a shoulder rest. You should all of these materials ready before camp starts, even if you are a complete beginner. This camp is designed for beginners and advancing to intermediate players. If you have NEVER played before, not even once, or you're starting from scratch, please message me for an additional one on one class, or two before taking this class, so you can be ready with the other campers. Charged separately from the camp price. Sheet music that will need to be printed from home, with a pencil and highlighter. Materials for Music Theory and Music Bingo are: The music theory assignment worksheets that will need to be printed from home, with a pencil. Music Bingo requires that you print out the "bingo cards" from home, they are numbered in the bottom corner, and every game a player picks a new card from their stack they printed at home. You also need some kind of "marker" to mark the bingo symbols off. You can mark your own cards with marker or pencil, but I do not recommend that, since we will be playing many rounds of the game. Pianists or Keyboard players will need: And instrument. Sheet music that will need to be printed from home, and a pencil and highlighter. And additional note*** In the class, on your camera from home, I will need to be able to see the student AND the instrument in the shot in the same time as possible. It is not effective to see just the student, without the instrument, or just the instrument and not the student. I must be able to see to be able to give proper feedback to the student's technique. For bingo and music theory, I just need to be able to see the student's face. Also, in Zoom, please select the "Original Sound for Musicians" audio options, or take off the "Noise Suppression" option. This is very important, so that I can hear the voice AND the instrument. Otherwise, I will only be able to hear voices, and this is a music class!
