This writing workshop is for the Wings of Fire fans! Tui T. Sutherland's popular series provides great source material for young writers to create both fanfiction (stories using characters or other story elements form the WoF series) and original works inspired the world of Wings of Fire. From first draft to final draft, workshopping with other writers can improve the quality of your character development, narrative, tone, and authorial voice. With support and feedback from fellow writers, share your original character, dragon species, and storylines. Each learner will have an opportunity to share part of their current story and hear constructive feedback from their peers and the instructor. We will discuss each story's strengths, areas where the author could expand or clarify the story to improve it, and what we most enjoyed about the work. Bring something new each week or use this class to motivate you through a longer piece of writing! Weekly topics will be student-directed based on stories students share and questions they have about their work. Some meetings will focus on general feedback, while others may focus on a specific topic (such as writing dialogue or fight scenes) that are beneficial to the class as a whole. I will guide discussion and keep learners on topic, encourage them to engage with each other's stories, and direct them in how to give and receive constructive feedback on a literary work.
Metas de aprendizaje
Each writer will set their own goals for the class. All writers will learn to give and receive constructive feedback.

Orientación para padres
The Wings of Fire books contain violence, character death, forbidden romances, and other common tropes of fantasy genre literature. Original character backstories may also contain sad or violent elements. Wings of Fire is a series with wonderful diversity representation. Works from students may include characters from diverse backgrounds, such as LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodiverse, and other marginalized groups. If your student is particularly sensitive to a specific topic, please let me know in advance and I will strive to create a safe environment for them.
Please be aware that I will not accept plagiarized or AI-generated work. "Plagiarized work" refers to the use of text in part or in full written by another writer. "AI-generated work" refers to any writing generated via any large language model (LLM) such as ChatGPT. LLMs are built using the scraped date of others' work, and the use of LLM does not teach or enhance writing or editing skills. Learners submitted plagiarized or identifiably AI-generated work will be given a warning, and then withdrawn from the class on a second offense.
Lista de útiles escolares
