𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝘂𝗶 𝗦𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱'𝘀 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀! We'll take a look at the stories from a literary standpoint, discussing elements such as how the author creates realistic characters, foreshadows events, incorporates specific themes, and more! The class aims to prove that reading "smart" isn't just for dusty old books-- that all books hold a treasure trove of secret ingredients if you only learn how to look for them. This class an excellent way for students to learn and practice academic book discussion about a topic they're already fans of-- 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦! Each class will feature a new discussion topic, listed below. This class is a guided discussion; while the topics are defined and I strive to keep students on subject, students are nonetheless encouraged to speak up, offer opinions, and play a role in guiding the conversation. This is a weekly subscription-style class that can be joined at any time— the material does not repeat! Orientación para padres
Please be aware that the 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘍𝘪𝘳𝘦 series does contain violence, though is generally considered acceptable for this age range.
Below are my general classroom rules and policies. These will also be explained to students when we begin class!
-For everyone's safety, and to ensure an engaging and social experience, students are required to have working microphones and video for the entirety of this class, positioned such that we can both hear and see them. Please be sure to prepare your student for this requirement before class begins!
-Students are asked not to use filters or virtual backgrounds-- though if there is an important reason to use a virtual background, please just let me know ahead of time that your student will be using one (no questions asked!).
-Students will be asked to introduce themselves by sharing their name, pronoun, and a favorite book.
