In this innovative 7-week course, students will explore the exciting intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, and wildlife conservation. Through a combination of interactive lectures, hands-on activities, and group projects, learners will develop a deep understanding of how technology can be used to protect and study wildlife. The class is structured to provide a balance of theoretical knowledge and practical application. Each week focuses on a specific aspect of Wildlife AI and robotics, building towards a final project where students will design their own wildlife conservation robot concept. My teaching style is engaging and participatory, encouraging students to think critically and creatively. I use a mix of visual presentations, video clips of real-world conservation tech, to keep the class interesting. By the end of this course, you will: -Understand basic principles of robotics and AI -Gain hands-on experience with robotics technology -Learn about wildlife observation and conservation techniques -Develop problem-solving skills by creating tech solutions for real-world issues -Cultivate an appreciation for the intersection of technology and nature

Course Introduction and Overview: Welcome to Wildlife AI Robotics!
This week provides an introduction to the field of engineering, exploring its fundamental principles and methodologies. Students will gain a deep understanding of what engineering entails, including its various disciplines and real-world applications. The class will focus on the Engineering Design Process, teaching students how to approach and solve complex problems systematically. Throughout the course, key engineering concepts will be introduced and examined.
Lección 2:
Wildlife Observation Techniques
This week introduces students to wildlife observation techniques, blending traditional methods with modern technology. Participants will gain hands-on experience setting up basic observation stations, learning essential skills for field research. The course incorporates an innovative LEGO Mindstorms EV3 challenge, where students will build a simple rotating camera mount, bridging the gap between engineering and wildlife studies.
Lección 3:
Introduction to AI in Wildlife Conservation
This module explores the cutting-edge intersection of artificial intelligence and wildlife conservation. It begins with a presentation on AI applications in wildlife conservation, highlighting current technologies and future possibilities. Students then engage in a thought-provoking group discussion on the ethical considerations of using AI in nature, encouraging critical thinking about the balance between technological advancement and environmental stewardship.
Lección 4:
Environmental Monitoring
This hands-on module immerses students in the practical application of environmental monitoring and robotics. The course begins with a field activity where participants collect crucial environmental data, including temperature, humidity, and soil moisture, gaining firsthand experience in scientific data gathering. Building on this, students tackle an exciting robotics challenge to construct and program a mobile environmental sensor using LEGO Mindstorms EV3.
