Hello and welcome to Wild Animal Science Weekly!

CLASS OBJECTIVE: Each week in this class, kids can learn interesting facts about a wild animal and their specific habitat and conservation status.

During Class:
I will be using the onscreen lesson plan that I created using scientific photos and informational text. I also use fun, educational props as a creative way to encourage student engagement and imagination. Educational content of each lesson has been expanded by integrating elements of math, geography, vocabulary and writing.

CLASS PARTICIPATION: This class can have up to 5 learners, so weekly lessons will be teacher presentation-based, with instructor guided questions to facilitate the group or individual participation. As I present the content of the lesson, I will ask students guided questions and call on raised hands for answers, the same as a classroom setting works. Doing this allows me to pace the class time in order to meet lesson objectives while still giving everyone a fair chance to participate within the allotted class time.

Muting:
Learners will be muted during the lesson to control echo, audio static, and distractions for the whole group. For large groups, most questions will be held until the end of class or can be put in the chat. Students will need to know how to locate and use the Mute control on their device in order to un-mute for answering during or asking questions or sharing at the end.

Questions:
Students can take simple notes or use the chat feature for general questions or comments that are not questions. Throughout the lesson, I will be using teacher directed questions to give students chances for participation by raising hands. This is so we can stay on-topic and get the most out of the lesson content.

Welcome to my classroom! My name is Jonathan. Here, you will find science classes that are both fun and engaging for your curious learner. All my classes were designed using standards-based elementary level concepts of science in order to help children develop the cognitive and academic skills needed to succeed in elementary school and beyond.

I have a BS degree in Sociology with an art minor and a TESOL certification. I also became a science teacher over six years ago, teaching first in an elementary school classroom setting before transitioning to the online teaching platform. I love doing this because being online enables me to teach an array of wonderful kids worldwide. My philosophy of education is that all children are unique, and their educational development is not a destination, but rather a journey. As a teacher, my mission is to guide children on that journey and help them to develop their very best abilities for their educational future.

I live in the USA with my wife and our two cats. When I’m not teaching, I’m usually spending time with my family or out walking my local nature trails. My hobbies are cooking, nature photography, juggling, and playing Pokémon Go. Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to teaching your child in the classroom.
