This class is an ongoing weekly class. We will meet once a week and have a read aloud on one of the Who Would Win? nonfiction books. Before reading, the students will be asked to predict who will win and will give information that they know about the animals that we are reading about. After reading, the students will discuss what is read and tell what they know. If there is time at the end of class-they will draw a picture of their favorite part of the story to share with the class. There are 23 books in the Who Would Win series. If your child enrolls and misses some readings we will start fresh again after reading through all 23 books. This way those students coming in that want to hear all of the stories have a chance to hear what was read in previous sections.
Metas de aprendizaje
Throughout this class the students will learn about a variety of different animals and species. They will have an opportunity to discuss animal traits and habitats and survival mechanisms as we learn about them through the read - alouds.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I have taught elementary education for 16 years in the public school setting for grades 1-3. I have a strong background in reading and love using reading to teach across other content areas. It is my goal and desire to show every child that reading can be fun and that it can cover a variety of interests and that we can learn many things while reading.
