This class will cover the following topics: - An overview of what a resume is and why it is important. - What a cover letter is and how it works with a resume. - The different sections of a resume and how to highlight strengths and achievements in each one. - Writing action/ impact statements based on a mock job advertisement. - Learning to structure a resume using language targeted for job needs. Resume writing is different from typical essay or narrative writing, so it can be challenging for a high schooler to shift gears from English class, but with some practice they will develop a skill set that will carry them for the rest of their career! - Students will learn the different parts of a resume and how to structure them.
- Students will learn resume style writing and how to taper language to a job advertisement.
Students will leave this class with an outline for their first resume!
