  • Students will develop the following skills: -Historical Investigation: learning from primary and secondary sources about historical events, their causes, and their effects. -Historical Writing: Learning to argue for a position about history based on primary-source evidence.
I have been tutoring both Greek and Latin for the last five years, having taught Latin in school for the last two. I have taught a high school literature class that enables students to earn college credit.

Detalles: Students will do the assigned readings from the book in between lessons. Primary-source excerpts will often accompany.

Detalles: Students will submit a 5-paragraph argumentative essay, reflecting on the part of Greek society and history that they found most interesting. The essay must include a thesis statement with three body paragraphs defending it.
Our main source will be "The Ancient Greek World," available in print and on Audible. Each lesson will be based on the assigned readings from this book, so ordering it will be required.

Authors: Dr. Jennifer Roberts has her PhD in Art History for Yale and now teaches at Harvard.. Tracy Barnett, having majored in Classics and earned her PhD in Medieval Italian, has written over 20 books. Links will be provided each week, and we will read them in class.

Primary sources will include excerpts from the following:
-"Theogeny" by Hesiod
"The Histories" by Herodotus
"Iliad" and "Odyssey" by Homer
"Histories" by Thucydides
"Apology" by Plato
