In this one-time interactive fall themed class, we will read "We're Going on a Leaf Hunt," by Steve Metzger. During and after the story we will talk about the colors of leaves in the fall. Students will also learn about onomatopoeia, words that are associated with a sound, for example, splish, splash. Then we will create our own handprint tree! First, students will glue their precut handprint onto their paper. Next students will finger paint "leaves" onto their tree using red, orange, yellow, and/or green paint, by dipping their fingertips into paint and pressing their fingers onto the paper to create leaves on their tree. If students do not wish to use paint, they may also use paper that they can tear or cut into leaves" or they can use tissue paper squares crumpled up into "leaves." *Please note that students will need an adult to help with the craft, which will approximately be the last 10-15 minutes of class.
